OHMYGAD ART!

Mon Jan 4, 2010, 8:48 PM
Happy New Years and all that. :D

Not happy go back to school day. :(

As a "just because" present when he was at the coast, my boyfriend Buster got me a sketchbook, paints, and brushes (and a paranoid's survival kit, which is hilarious, but not as important). I feel pressured to be visual artsy again, so I drew today. I'm pleased with the result.

Now, I'm terrified of using the paints, because, while I love watercolours, I haven't painted in a while.

So I'm going to test them out before attacking the drawing :) So thank you, Buster!

(though the real thank you probably goes to Moe, because Buster doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to art. So thanks, Moe :) )

“Lorelei Morgan.”

“Ah.” He stopped walking, though the faint light from the cells was just ahead. “You are worried for her.”

“No, I just—”

“I do not mind,” he interrupted. “In fact, I understand perfectly. Your ignorant human compassion is something the strigoi morţi do not often deal with.”

“Ignorant,” Caitlyn snorted.

Fane smiled for a fraction of a second. “It is true. You do not understand the inner workings of our clan. Lorelei Morgan is a traitor. By right, we should have killed her on the spot, but we did not. We spared her, gave her mercy she does not deserve.”

Caitlyn cast her gaze to the hard, damp dirt beneath her feet. “Oh.”

“And we come from a different time than you,” he continued softly. “Our culture, our values are far more ancient than you can possibly comprehend. We were born in a time when death, torture and execution were all considered justice, and an accepted way of medieval life. Some of us have adapted; some show compassion. Bethany Makarov would be a prime example. And younger creatures of this modern century share the mindset of the era.”

“What about Joachim? He told me he’s killed no more than twenty-five people, and he’s way older than you,” Caitlyn pointed out.

Fane’s tongue flicked over his long, sharp teeth, and a shiver shot through her.

“The elves, Purity,” he murmured, “are not comparable to the strigoi morţi. They are not so bloodthirsty as us.”

And with those words hanging between them, he turned and strode toward the warm orange firelight at the end of the dark tunnel, leaving her to follow as she pleased.

how can the darkness feel so wrong?

Tue Dec 29, 2009, 7:39 PM
I was perusing the emails in my inbox recently, and I think there was only two or three on my update list who didn't respond to the email I sent regarding Purity. I'm tired of waiting for them - I figure if I have people waiting on me and pressuring me, I'll get more done with Purity, since I've been rather slacking lately.

So, to close 2009, I'm going to send the first chapter of Purity to those on my email list.

If you aren't on the list and want to be for the first chapter, let me know. And I've gotten more computer savvy since the first rewrite, for those veterans out there, and I'm doing better than copy/pasta. I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that :) I know the copy/pasta was frustrating. It was to me, too.

So sometime in the next few days, expect an email from me, those of you on my list. This will be the third version of the first chapter - and my favourite. I've fixed a lot. Here's to hoping you all enjoy :meow:

Oh, and did I forget to share? I had a burst of Immortal Misconception inspiration last week, and two major characters may cease to exist now.

generic holiday greeting

Fri Dec 25, 2009, 11:09 AM
Well, Christmas is here. It isn't as exciting as it used to be. Growing up is tough. I woke up two hours later than usual, had to be woken up by my mother, and I'm not allowed to go out and see my boyfriend, so I'm stuck inside all day. But still, I'm a greedy bugger and I got shit, so I'm happy.

Stocking stuffers, a Dracula ornament that quotes the old movie, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, a 2010 Scotland calendar, luggage, luggage tags and a money pouch (for my trip to Europe in spring break), Star Trek, and chocolate, a La Senza giftcard and new monroe piercings from my boyfriend. A good haul, methinks.

And my Fella plushie is one year old today :) He's sitting beside my computer, glaring at the wall with his toque and bandanna.

So, everyone else have a good Christmas/whatever else you might celebrate?

“Death is the natural course of things,” he said coldly as he stared at Morgan. Vanessa — or Dayton Blanchard or Leah Weber — had roughed her up. There was too little blood in her system to form bruises or let cuts bleed, but her clothes were torn and her straight brown hair was tousled and tangled.

“Not for vampires,” whispered Caitlyn.

“Keep her here,” Vanessa hissed. “Lock her up. Let her starve; feed off rats and bugs to survive. Let her rot.”

the last baron.

I am retardedly sick. Srs. It's painful. I've been employed long enough to get one cheque, and I've already had to call in sick. LAAMMEE.

But I do get to miss school, and it's already the last week before Christmas break. Yeehaw, mothafuckas.

Okay, the news you care about.

So, there was a fluke here that I was only vaguely aware of. I started writing Purity before I'd seen Underworld, and I realized after a while that both our werewolves were named Lucian/Lucien. I forgot to fix this 'til now.

Soo... Lucian Abendroth is no longer named so.

It's Heinrich Abendroth now.

Way less cool, eh?

And we can't even call him Lucy anymore. It's Heinz now.

IMPOTENT! I mean... IMPORTANT!

Mon Dec 7, 2009, 4:15 PM
I had an epiphany... or whatever.

If I start to email the new Purity, maybe that'll shove me back on track.

SO

-drum roll-

I'm going to email everyone on my list, see if they still want to get updates, and once that's said and done, I SHALL SEND OUT THE FIRST CHAPTER.

-dramatic music-

Plus, I finished the second chapter of The Storyteller. Hopefully I'll get that up soon, though my Internet's been iffy the past few days.

I feel very on the ball right now. I'm getting shit done with The Storyteller, Blessed Aetherius, (hopefully) Purity, and I seem to be doing okay in school, and I have a job - and I'm juggling all this around my once nonexistent, now important social life.

You know, life was a lot easier when I didn't have a boyfriend, but I don't think I'd soon go back to it.

Letting loose a few grumbled curses that might have broken one of the Ten Commandments, I rubbed my head and glared down at my miniscule assailant. The coppery profile of King George V looked back at me.

Frowning, I stooped and picked up the penny. Nobody merely tossed money, especially during an economic punch in the gut.

“Hey! Mademoiselle!”

I blinked, recognizing that voice. Rolling the penny around my palm, I looked up to see John Molyneux jogging toward me, scowling somewhat.

As he came close, however, the frown disappeared and he smiled. “Oh, I never would have guessed that Sarah Beckett was robbing me.”

“I’m not robbing you.” I held out my hand, and he scooped up the penny. “You threw money at my head.”

He grinned and tucked the coin away. “I did not. I was toying with it and it ran off. How are you this fine summer afternoon?”

I smiled and opened my mouth to say that I was doing quite well, thank you, but something on his mouth distracted me. “You, uh, have something on your lip, Mr Molyneux,” I said, gesturing vaguely to his face. There was a red blotch on his lower lip that was almost unnoticeable.

John blinked in surprise and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. I stole a glance at it before he rubbed it on his pants — whatever he wiped off looked suspiciously like blood.
